If this is your first visit please subscribe to our RSS feed. Thank You for helping us to Walk the Walk to Beat Cancer
This blog is something of an indulgence – and an incentive. It’s an indulgence because we can share our triumphs and tribulations, and maybe get you to part with some sponsorship for our cause. It’s an incentive because having committed to this project very publicly – there is no way I will not complete the task, I will do many things in life but make a fool of myself is not one of them!
Team Pink and Sparkly, my daughter Elanor and I, have committed to complete The Moonwalk. No, it’s not the Michael Jackson thing but a Marathon (26 and a bit miles!) through the streets of London, starting at midnight and wearing only a decorated bra on our top half. Needless to say, the bras will be pink and sparkly – if we are going to make an exhibition of ourselves we are going to do it in style! This blog will be the story of our training journey, plus a few other random bits and pieces I expect. Why are we doing this – you can read my story here, and Elanor’s here. In brief, I am a survivor, I have had Breast Cancer and I am alive and well. Many are not. We want to do what we can to help more women – and men, to be survivors. We don’t have buckets of cash to throw at the problem – but we have health and a determination to do what we can to beat Cancer.
Many of you who read this will know me as flaminglacer, and may have visited my websites or have come across me in the far flung reaches of the internet. This is your chance to get to know the woman behind the lilac heart – and if you can find it in your heart to support us, we will be forever grateful. We have set ourselves a large target, we want to raise £2,000 ($4,000) - if I am going to make an exhibition of myself, I want it to be worth it! We have twenty weeks to get fit and raise the money. This will be our story….
